Why is Tom Brady is Pretending to be a Kendrick Lamar Fan?!

February 1, 2018 by WIHH

The Super Bowl goes down this weekend, and I’m going to use it as an excuse to eat wings and drink more beers than I should on a Sunday. Players and the media have descended on Minneapolis, where the game is being played, to give press conference after bland press conference about how they’ll play hard and give their all. Luckily, some journalists are out there asking the important questions, and one of them is Bleacher Report’s Natalie Weiner, who asked Tom Brady about Kendrick Lamar. (Natalie has also written for Pigeons & Planes in the past.)

Tom Brady, who calls Donald Trump a “friend” and was spotted with a Make America Great Again hat in his locker, claimed earlier this week to listen to Kendrick Lamar, as well as Jay-Z, Coldplay, U2, and Pearl Jam. This begs the question—is Brady bumping “Alright” pre-game? Does “Loyalty” get him ready to play?

Can Brady name a single Kendrick song? The answer is an unequivocal, “No!” In response to a pretty specific question about his favorite Kendrick Lamar songs, Brady said this:

“His last album was pretty great, so—and I heard he’s got a new one coming out, so, uh. You know, I’m in the locker room with a lot of guys, so I hear a lot of different music, and that’s obviously one that I really like, so. I’m a fan of music, and, um, he’s pretty great.”

Yeah, uh, the rap music, uh, is good. Brady, of course, is a professional NFL quarterback, not a music critic, but still. See Brady’s fumbling answer below, and enjoy your wings come Sunday.
