JAY-Z scored the most nominations (eight) among all artists for the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards—which will be held this coming Sunday, January 28, at New York’s Madison Square Garden—but according to HDD, he has chosen to not perform during the live ceremony.
Jay’s last GRAMMYs performance came in 2014 when he opened the show alongside his wife Beyoncé, who performed a rousing rendition of her hit single, “Drunk In Love.”
While hip-hop fans might be disappointed by this news, those who do tune into the broadcast should enjoy a plethora of great live performances. Artists currently scheduled to perform live include Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Logic, SZA, and Bruno Mars with Cardi B, among others.
Since 1998, JAY-Z has collected a total of 21 gilded gramophones (out of a total of 74 nominations), which is tied for ninth all-time with Vince Gill and Kanye West.
