Few artists embodied critical and commercial success better than Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2017, so it’s only right the TDE power duo joined forces to ring in the new year.
“All The Stars,” produced by Sounwave and Al Shux, comes alongside news that Kendrick, along with TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, will be curating and executive producing Black Panther: The Album, the accompanying LP for easily our most anticipated movie of the year.
For those who are keeping score, this will the first time Kendrick will “write, produce, perform and curate for a major motion picture.”
In the wake of DAMN. and Ctrl, “All The Stars” is a bit of a letdown. Triumphant and cinematic, it’s nevertheless about what you’d expect from a radio-friendly lead single for a superhero movie soundtrack.
We’ll probably be sticking with “Doves In the Wind” for the time being, but don’t think this stifles any excitement for Black Panther, set for release on February 16. As for the soundtrack, Black Panther: The Album is slated to arrive one week prior, on February 9.
