This has to be the most confusing track I’ve been sent so far. I really don’t know what to make of it. So much so that I made myself to listen to it about six times straight. I’m sorry, but this track is really bad. I felt I like I had the rotten fart smell face the entire time it was playing. This guy sounds so uncomfortable on the beat that I feel uncomfortable listening to it. It’s almost like he doesn’t hear the beat at all or that the vocals were thrown on half a second behind the beat.

As far as the content, this song has absolutely no focus whatsoever. He goes from braggadocios (“to be more specific, nigga, I am the best”) to what seems like self-doubt (“it seems like everything I do still ain’t worth shit”). Then he starts talking about how black women used to be slaves and that’s why they’re gold diggers. Next he’s talking about how he wants to be rich like white people, but how white people will only let black people get a little bite of this success pie. He then tops this incredibly awkward song off with talking about how he wants to promote unity. Yup. Unity.

This song is seriously like the worst made pizza with random ass toppings like cottage cheese, peanut butter, wild rice, curried goat and candy corn. It makes absolutely no fucking sense.

So what constructive criticism can I offer Ja Jay Hype? Before you record a song, focus on what you want the song to be about. You can’t stuff four or five random topics into a song and actually make it work unless you’re a really seasoned writer and you’re using some sort of theme to tie the topics together. You didn’t do that with this song at all. This sounded like you, one day, got the idea to make a song, wrote three random verses and just threw a seemingly unrelated hook on top of it. I’m not sure how far you’re trying to make it in music, but, with these types of ideas, I can say with a bit of certainty you probably won’t make it too far. But if this is solely for fun, by all means, have a blast, bro.

People, feel free to leave comments. Let me know what you think of the track. Do you agree? Am I completely out of my mind?

“I need some help. I need to be free. I need to be me. To show you all my qualities.”
