RIP Heavy D – What Iz Hip Hop

November 8, 2011 by Kobi

As you may have heard, Heavy D (Dwight Arrington Myers) has passed away.  This is indeed sad news as hip-hop has lost a great soul.  He died in a Los Angeles hospital today at 1PM after being rushed there around 12PM.  He recently returned from overseas where he caught pneumonia.

Heavy D entered the scene in 1987 with Living Large with the Boyz.  In 1991, he enjoyed his big hit “Now That We Found Love” and even went on to record theme songs for In Living Color and MADtv.  Heavy D just recently performed his hit “Now That We Found Love” on this year’s BET Awards.  At 44, we have indeed lost a young soul early but his music will live on forever.

His final message from Twitter on his timeline is:  “BE INSPIRED!“  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family, friends and fans.
