With the NFL Playoffs set to kick off in the next day or so, the Philadelphia Eagles and Michael Vick are still making headlines. In the wrong way. A week ago, Tucker Carlson, filling in for Sean Hannity, said that according to him, personally, he thought Michael Vick should have been executed. You know the story. Now, while some outlandish comments may make you a star and gain you some notoriety, apparently, killing a man that killed dogs doesn’t quite seem humane. Or Christian which Tucker Carlson is (that’s what he said).
It seems that this was not really about Vick, even though TC is a dog lover, but more about President Obama. When President Obama commended the Philadelphia Eagles organization for giving Vick a second chance, it seems to me that it did not sit too well within some people. Now, to be truthful, it’s all political fodder that the Republicansare using to attack the President. We know that. Except this time, TC chose the wrong words and admit tingly, made a mistake.
As bad as Vick’s actions were, I am glad to see that people did not echo TC’s statements and felt that they were a little much and repulsive. I thought that Sean Hannity and the Fox Network would back TC on his statement but as you can see below, they even thought it was just not the right thing to say. Hannity pointed defended Vick’s efforts to reform and stated that he deserves a shot. This obviously was a PR nightmare for Fox so I think they are taking the high road on this one.
So check out the video to see TC’s retraction on Vick’s execution. To save you some political banter about Michael Steele (interesting how they but the black stories together–maybe that’s by chance), fast forward to the 4:09 mark.
