MP3 | The Left – Frozen (ft. Kool G Rap) – What Iz Hip Hop

November 3, 2010 by Kobi

On “Frozen”, Kool G Rap hooks up with newcomers The Left for a latest joint from Gas Mask, their debut album. The group are members Apollo Brown (producer), Journalist103 (rapper), and DJ Soko.

“From the time you stick the disc in/ It’s the same feeling that a heroin addict gets when he sticks the syringe in/ I put you in a deep nod, back and forth constant/ Once I get in your system there’s no way you can stop it… I make you spend that last for that work in that plastic.”

According to DJ Soko, the main inspiration for “Frozen” derives from the “drive and hunger for dope music, and the lengths that people will go to get their hands on the newest, best music.” Apollo Brown states, “I’ve always wanted to do a joint with Kool G. Rap. He’s without a doubt one of my favorite emcees of all time. He and Journalist just fit the beat, and meshed on the song as a whole. Journalist came in the studio to cut the song and I surprised him with the vocals from Kool G. Rap and we just went from there.”

Gas Mask, features appearances from Guilty Simpson, Kool G Rap, Finale, Invincible, Marv Won, and more is available now via Mello Music Group. You can buy it on iTunes or eMusic.
